Hello there! My name is Phil, and I’m originally from the UK.

Before moving to Japan, I spent many years living in Dublin, Ireland, where I worked in music and led interactive classes for young children and families. Through this experience, I developed an energetic and engaging teaching style, focused on helping students feel comfortable and confident.

During this time, I felt such a strong connection to Ireland and its people that I eventually became an Irish citizen — so now I have two passports.

I later trained as an English teacher and began working with students of all ages. I enjoy creating lessons that are practical, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals. I believe that learning works best in a relaxed and positive environment, where students feel confident to try, make mistakes, and continue to grow.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing music and exploring different instruments. Recently, my mother-in-law kindly let me borrow her spare koto, which I really enjoy practicing in my free time.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you enjoy learning English!

イギリス出身です。

日本に来る前は、アイルランドのダブリンに長く住み、音楽の仕事をしながら、幼児やご家族向けの参加型クラスを担当していました。その経験を通して、子どもたちが安心して楽しく参加できる、エネルギッシュで分かりやすい指導スタイルを身につけました。

アイルランドでの生活と人々に強い愛着を感じ、最終的にはアイルランド市民権を取得しました。現在はイギリスとアイルランドの2つのパスポートを持っています。

その後、英語教師としての資格を取得し、年齢を問わずさまざまな生徒を指導してきました。一人ひとりの目標に合わせた、実用的で安心感のあるレッスン作りを大切にしています。リラックスした前向きな環境の中で、間違いを恐れず挑戦し、少しずつ成長していくことが、英語学習には最も大切だと考えています。

プライベートでは音楽が大好きで、いろいろな楽器を演奏します。最近は義理の母から琴を借りて、空いた時間に練習するのを楽しんでいます。

皆さんとお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。一緒に、楽しく英語を学びましょう。

If you ever travel to Cornwall, you'll probably hear "geddon my bewty" (hello my friend) and be called "love" or “handsome” quite a lot. We live in cottages, eat pies, drink warm beer and add cream on everything. This is the little corner of the world that I come from.

Although I was born and raised in this rural part of England, I have been living in Paris, France, for the last 15 years so I also know my way around a busy city. Maybe this contrast is why I like travelling over everything else. Meeting new people, tasting new foods, seeing different shapes and colours as well as learning new languages and ways of expressing oneself. I have always loved learning and that is why I fell in love with teaching. Up to now, I have had the chance to teach English to newcomers in the UK, to adults in France and to youngsters in Chile. No matter the age, there is always a way to assimilate and perfect a new language. Please give me the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.

私の出身地コーンウォールを訪れると、"geddon my bewty" (hello my friend)や"love"、“handsome”という呼びかけをよく耳にするでしょう。コテージに住み、パイを食べ、ホットビールを飲み、何にでもクリームをかける。それがコーンウォールのありふれた日常です。

イギリスの田舎で生まれ育ちましたが、直近15年間はフランスの大都市パリに住んでいました。田舎と都会の対照的な点が私が旅行するのが好きな理由かもしれません。新しく人に会い、新しい食べ物を味わい、異なる色や形に触れ、新しい言語や自己表現を学ぶことが楽しいです。昔から学ぶことが好きで、そのことから教えることが好きになったのだと思います。これまでにイギリスで移民に、フランスで大人に、チリで子どもに英語を教えたことがあります。年齢に関係なく、みなさん新しい言語を習得する方法があります。ぜひあなたの英語目標の達成をお手伝いするチャンスをください。一緒にがんばりましょう！

Greetings everyone! My name is Warren. I'm from the USA. I grew up in the Northern Virginia.
I've been living in Japan for 20 years. I have lived in Sapporo, Karatsu, Fukuoka, Yokohama, and Osaka. Ever since I was a child I have been interested in Japanese culture. I am particularly fond of Japanese music, cinema, pro wrestling, and martial arts. My hobbies include reading, dancing, exercising, and playing games.
Think of my classroom as an English experimentation room. We will practice using English in many different ways together. It is okay to make English mistakes in my classroom. I will provide all my students with a bright and fun environment to increase English confidence and accuracy. I look forward to sharing my classroom with you.

アメリカから来ましたWarrenです。バージニア州の北部で育ちました。日本には20年住んでいます。札幌、佐賀、福岡、横浜、大阪に住んだことがあります。子どもの頃から日本文化に興味があり、日本の音楽、映画、プロレス、武道が特に好きで、趣味は読書、ダンス、運動、ゲームをすることです。教室はまるで英語の実験室のようだと思っています。様々な方法で英語を練習していきます。英語でまちがいをしてももちろん大丈夫です。すべての生徒様が自信や正確性を高めていけるような明るく楽しい雰囲気のレッスンを提供します。教室でお会いするのを楽しみにしています。

Greetings! My name is Matt, and I'm originally from the sun-soaked state of California in the United States. I've been teaching English in Kyoto since 2016, and it has been an incredible journey so far.
 

As someone who loves adventure and exploring new cultures, Japan captured my heart from the moment I arrived. I quickly fell in love with teaching English, which has allowed me to share my passion for language and culture with students from all walks of life.
 

Currently residing in the charming city of Uji, I'm an avid music lover and outdoors enthusiast, often spending my free time hiking and discovering new natural wonders. I'm also an avid reader and lifelong learner, always seeking to expand my knowledge and horizons.
 

My approach to teaching is centered around the belief that learning should be both enjoyable and effective. I strive to make each lesson fun and engaging, while also ensuring that every student has clear goals and a path to achieving them. I truly believe that learning English can open up a whole new world of opportunities, and I'm thrilled to be able to guide my students on this exciting journey.

太陽が降り注ぐアメリカのカリフォルニア州から来ましたMattです。2016年から京都で英語を教えています。これまでのところとても素晴らしい経験となっています。

冒険や新しい文化に触れることが好きで、日本に到着したその時から心を掴まれました。言語や文化への情熱を生徒様と共有できる、英語教育にすぐに夢中になりました。

現在は魅力的な宇治市に住んでいます。音楽とアウトドアが大好きで、時間があるときにはハイキングや自然散策を楽しんでいます。読書も好きで、生涯学び続ける人でありたいと思い、いつも知識や視野を広げようとしています。

学ぶことは楽しく効果的であるべきであるというのが、私の指導アプローチの中心にあります。毎回のレッスンが楽しく魅力的であり、同時にすべての生徒様が明確なゴールと、その達成のための道筋を持っているよう確認するよう努めています。英語を学ぶことは全く新しい機会の世界を開いてくれるものであると心から思います。生徒様をこの冒険へ導くことができるのがとても楽しみです！

Hello everyone!  

My name is Sophie Okada. I'm from the West Midlands in the UK. I specialize in creative language use in daily life, with a focus on how learners develop language through meaningful communication in real contexts. While I grew up in England, my family is actually Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. Before moving to Japan, I taught with the CELTA-directed charity "Talk English," and received recognition from the mayor of my city for my teaching contributions.

I've lived all over Kansai, but it was in Ehime where I truly fell in love with Japan. Having lived on Shikoku island, of course I love all things citrus, going to onsen, and beautiful beaches! Now I'm excited to be joining the King Eikaiwa team here in Nara!

My hobbies are listening to metal music, sculpting, and photography. My favourite weekend activity is baking - especially with traditional Tokushima wasanbon that holds a treasured place in my heart. And, I always love spending time with my mama-in-law and grandparents.

As a teacher, I focus on building a classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves in English, without fear of making mistakes. My role is to guide and support my students through every stage of their learning journey. I believe learning should connect to real life and real interests.
